How to Stir Fry Sambal Long Beans

This is a simple yet delicious way to cook vegetables at home. The important ingredient for this dish is sambal belacan. It is used as a base for stir fries with many types of vegetables.

Supplies

  • 300 Grams Long bean
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons Dried prawns
  • 3 Tablespoons Sambal belacan paste
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 150 Milliliters Water (hot)
  • ⅛ Teaspoons Salt (to taste)
  • ⅛ Teaspoons Chicken stock ( to taste)
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Wash, rinse, drain and cut long beans into 2 inch length.

    Step 2

    Soak dried prawns until soft and chopped coarsely.

    Step 3

    Blend or pound chillies, shallots, garlic and belacan. (Sambal paste)

    Step 4

    Heat oil in wok and stir fry dried prawns until golden brown.

    Step 5

    Add in the sambal paste and fry until aromatic.

    Step 6

    Add the long beans and hot water. Mix well with the sambal paste.

    Step 7

    Add salt and chicken stock to taste. Cover and simmer on low heat.

    Step 8

    Cook until water evaporates and the long beans are cooked and are well coated into the sambal paste.

    Step 9

    And you're done! Dish out onto plate and serve hot with steamed rice, porridge or even fried beehoon.
