How to Sew a Hen

by Katri Juusola

Supplies

  • Fabric 13x25cm
  • 2 round beads and 1 long one
  • Needle and yarn
  • A sewing machine
  • Some filling
  • And a bit of felt for the "hair"
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Cut a 13 x 25 cm piece from the fabric.

    Step 2

Fold it in half to find the middle. Use your nail to make the fold clear.

    Step 3

Choose the beads for eyes and the beak. Make sure your needle is thin enough to go through the beads.

    Step 4

Sew the long bead on the fold and the eyes on both sides.

    Step 5

Make a knot behind each bead, that they will be secure.

    Step 6

Now you can decorate the Hen, use some needlepoint or aplique.

    Step 7

    Aplique heart on the making...

    Step 8

Cut the "hair" from the felt. Make it what ever shape you like.

    Step 9

Pin it just from the middle fold.

    Step 10

Fold the other half on top of the other.

    Step 11

    Sew the two sides.

    Step 12

    Make the corner thinner.

    Step 13

Pin the third side as shown.

    Step 14

Sew the third side. Remember to leave an opening in the middle.

    Step 15

Turn the Hen the right side out.

    Step 16

Put some filling inside. The filling can be rice, too.

    Step 17

Sew the opening close by hand.

    Step 18

    Make another one.
