How to Peel Peaches

Supplies

  • 1 pot with boiling water
  • 1 large bowl with ice & cold water
  • peaches
  • good sharp knife
  • paring knife
  • kitchen timer
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    All my pretty peaches that I need to peel so I can make Honey-Ginger Peach Jam.

    Step 2

    Cut peaches in half & remove the pit.

    Step 3

    Drop a peach half or two into the boiling water & set timer for 2 mins.

    Step 4

    My ice melted! Drop the hot peaches into the cold water & let cool for a minute.

    Step 5

    And depending on the ripeness of the peach the skin will practically fall off or might need a paring knife just to get it started. Remove skin & discard.

    Step 6

    Repeat steps 2-5 until all peaches are peeled & then follow your recipe. The peaches I peeled were used to make 10 1/2 pint jars of Honey Ginger Peach Jam from Pomona Pectin's canning guide.
