All of the supplies are optional except the paint thinner, unless your using acrylics. Then you would use water instead. I use oils.
I'm sorry for the weird angle of the camera.... 😓😓😓 Also, this is a giant guide..... And I don't talk much... Lol
Add the shadow of clouds
... And add highlights....
Don't forget to blend the bottoms of the clouds.
I used black for the mountains. You can use a brush if you want to. Just do what's comfortable...... I love the sound of the knife on canvas! 😝
Just try to make the paint as thin as possible.
Don't go too far down.... I left room to blend the bottoms. Using no paint on the brush. Just pulling down the black.
It sounded like someone said something, but it wasn't me lol 😱
I'm using straight white. You want some holes to be left in the snow.
Adding in the reflections for the water..... My brush had a little thinner in it that I didn't mean to, so it was kind of thin.
I'm adding in blue shadows behind and in the cracks on the mountains. My brush kept picking up the black, and the shadow wouldn't show. Thin down your shadow a LOT! Once it's there, don't touch it!!
Seriously, I wasted a lot of time trying to get these shadows in and I kept adding thinner..... Eventually it worked.... Sorta...
I'm wiping the black off my brush between loading.
Then it suddenly got dark outside and I turned on a light!! 😛 Adding in background trees with green... My where covered up though...
Create mist with an empty brush and just tap the black.
Land-HO!!!! Just take some green and maybe some blue or a touch of black..... Steal the black from the mountains. Just pull it down...
Again, take and empty brush and just steal the green from the land to make reflections. My brush had thinner in it..... Wipe your brush our well... Then brush sideways..
I'm adding in a couple bigger trees.
Use the corner of your fan brush for the trees.
Add highlights with a lighter color.
Don't overdo it. I did... Lol
Keep adding highlights..... I overdid it.... Again lol just add your darks back in. I make a LOT of mistakes.
Add your water lines. These push your reflections back, under the water.
Blend them. Add some rocks by mixing burnt sienna (brown) and ultramarine blue to darken it.
😔Thank you fan brush...... I was just adding highlights lol
Give the rocks and shadow. Load the fan brush with white and flick it over the rocks to make waterfalls
I pulled the frisked off to make the oval shape. I didn't think the tree looked good cut of, so I finished it, while pulling the ground under it.
Just kidding lol I forgot something
Mix brown and blue to get a dark brown... This that to make it real soupy.... Watery.... Add in some trunks and branches showing through the limbs of the trees.
I think this turned out pretty o.k. Since this is in oil, it will take no longer than six months to dry.... Lmao!!! Ehh... Give it 4 days to be safe. Some things dry faster than others lol...
This was a lot of fun and has been the fastest painting I think I might have ever done. Follow me on twitter! @AaronLoyd96
