How to Make Whipped Potatoes

Light, creamy and fluffy just how potatoes should be!


  • 4 Pounds Russet potatoes,cubed
  • 1 ½ Cups Hot whole Milk
  • 8 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • Instructions

    Step 1


    Step 2

    In a large pot with about an inch of water place a steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil and place the potatoes in it. Cover the pot and cook until potatoes are tender.

    Step 3

    In a small pan heat the milk.

    Step 4

    Add the butter until melted.

    Step 5

    Drain potatoes and discard any water that is In the pot.

    Step 6

    Add the potatoes back to the pot that is over low heat and stir potatoes until dry.

    Step 7

    Take your beater and attach the whips.

    Step 8

    Whip potatoes on low for a few seconds until all the potatoes are just broken up. If you start on high you will have potatoes all over your kitchen 😛

    Step 9

    While still mixing ( in my case I wasn't cause I was snapping pics) on low slowly add milk and butter mixture.add salt to taste.

    Step 10

    When milk is incorporated increase speed and whip until light and fluffy.

    Step 11

    I added more butter, cause I can. This is totally optional.

    Step 12

    There you have it light, fluffy and lump free potatoes!!
