How to Make Vanilla Sugar Cookies

A recipe which has never failed on me!


  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ Cups All purpose flour
  • ½ Teaspoons Baking powder
  • ½ Teaspoons Salt
  • ½ Cups Granulated sugar; for rolling
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F.

    Step 2

    First, mix together butter and sugar.

    Then add in egg and vanilla extract, mix!

    Then add in flour, baking powder and salt. And you're done.

    Step 6

    Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop out a portion and place it in a bowl of sugar. Roll it around and shape it into a ball on the palm of your hands.

    Step 7

    Roll them all and then press them down slightly with two of your fingers. Bake for 14-18 minutes. Once they're done, let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

    Then transfer onto a cooling rack. You can see some of the sugar in the picture. It gives an awesome crunch to the cookies. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
