A cost effective and lightweight DIY travel toy for less than $5.

Supplies

  • Scissors
  • Self laminating sheets
  • Magazines
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Gather up magazines with pictures of food in them. You will also need a pair of scissors and self-laminating sheets. I found a great 5-pack of the sheets at the Dollar Tree.

    Step 2

Pull pages out of magazines that have pictures of food that are roughly life size, have all edges showing, and are taken from a top down angle.

    Step 3

    Cut the pictures out carefully.

    Step 4

    Laminate the pictures.

    Step 5

Next, cut the extra laminate away but be sure to leave about 1/4-1/2 an inch on the edges.

    Step 6

The play food is now ready to use with a few plastic toy dishes and pans.

    Step 7

The best part is, it travels light!
