How to Make the Best Cookie Press Vanilla Cookies

Supplies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 all purpose flour, sifted
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Preheat oven to 375 F / 200 C

    Step 2

    Combine the butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl.

    Step 3

    Using a stand mixer set on high speed, beat until....

    Step 4

    ...light and fluffy!

    Step 5

    Beat in the egg, vanilla extract and salt.

    Step 6

    This is how it should look like at this point.

    Step 7

    Using a spatula, stir in the flour until well mixed.

    Step 8

    Now your dough should be ready to go into the cookie press ( I use Kuhn Rikon cookie press, I like it way better over Wilton's )

    Step 9

    Remove the white ring at the base of the plastic barrel and pack the dough into the cookie press. Fit with the desired disk and screw white ring back in place.

    Step 10

    Place the press flat against the cookie sheet and squeeze the trigger to compress dough in the barrel. Use one click per cookie, lifting straight up and off the sheet.

    Step 11

    Space the cookie 1 1/2 inches apart.

    Heart shaped cookies make great Valetine's gifts! ;)

    Step 13

    Bake until golden brown, about 7-10 minutes.

    Step 14

    Transfer cokies to wire racks to cool.

    Step 15

    Here they are, ready to be eaten!

    Hint: you can use chocolate chips in the center of the flower shaped cookies as well ;)
