How to Make Texas Chili Swedish Style

This is a "more is more" dish. Take what you have at home.

Supplies

  • 1 ½ kilograms Chuck roll
  • 3 Onions
  • 5 Garlic cloves
  • 3 Bell peppers
  • 200 Grams Celeriac
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons Cocoa powder
  • 3 Tablespoons Cumin
  • 2 Tablespoons Paprika
  • 3 Tablespoons ancho chile peppers powder
  • 150 Milliliters Chili sauce
  • 2 cans dark lager (50 cl each)
  • 6 Tablespoons concentrated beef stock
  • 500 Grams Diced bacon
  • 400 Milliliters Kidney beans
  • 400 Milliliters White beans
  • 400 Milliliters Diced canned tomatoes
  • 100 Milliliters Sweet Baby Ray's
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Flat parsley
  • Serve with:
  • Nacho chips
  • Yogurt
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Start by peeling the celeriac and then chopping it.

    Step 2

    This size is good.

    Step 3

    Chop the bell peppers.

    Step 4

    And the onions and the garlic.

    Step 5

    Cut the meat in cubes.

    Step 6

    Fry the bacon and set aside. Don't wash the pan, instead fry the meat in the bacon grease.

    Step 7

    Fry the onion and the garlic.

    Step 8

    Add the celeriac. The mix shouldn't get any color, just get soft.

    Step 9

    Add paprika powder and cumin.

    Step 10

    Also add ancho chili powder.

    Step 11

    Stir.

    Step 12

    Add concentrated beef stock...

    Step 13

    ...chili sauce and cocoa. Also add the beer.

    Step 14

    Fry the meat. Allow it to get some color.

    Add the meat to the big pot. Let it cook for at least 2 hours. Put on the lid.

    After 2-3 hours, add the chopped bell peppers.

    Stir. At this stage I also added some Sweet Baby Ray's. It also works with liquid smoke (but in less quantities)

    Add the bacon. I let it boil another 30 minutes.

    Add the white beans.

    Step 21

    And the kidney beans. Boil for another 5 minutes or so.

    Add flat parsley and it's ready to serve!

    Serve with yogurt and nacho chips.
