How to Make Tandoori Bread

Tendoor bread is usually baked in a clay oven called tandoor. But, the Yemeni style, tandoor bread can be baked in the oven surface. Let's get started. (:

Supplies

  • 4 Cups All purpose flour
  • 2 Cups Whole wheat flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Dry yeast
  • 4 Cups Lukewarm water
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion powder to taste
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    This tandoori bread is a Yemeni style ..

    Step 2

    Mix all ingredients together, add the water slowly while mixing. You might need more water

    Step 3

    Knead the dough for a minute

    Step 4

    Grease a bowl with oil and place the dough in.

    Step 5

    Cover and let rise for about 40 minutes, or until double sized.

    Dough bobbled out ..

    Sprinkle your working surface / with flour

    Step 8

    Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces

    Flatten it

    Let rest for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 550 degrees

    Now let's come to the tool we bake with . There's a tool specifically made for this kind of bread, ours is a homemade. You also can make something similar out of pot cap, cheese cloth and k towels.

    When dough is ready to be baked, start rolling the dough on that bakery .. Just like how it showed on the video.

    This video explains how to bake the bread. After baking it, leave it for 30-40 second and flip it to the other side ..

    Or take it under the oven surface where heat can reach the surface of the bread, following this step could make the bread bubbled and crispy.

    I made a lot, but the good thing I can store them in the freezer and can stay there for a month. Their freshness won't disappear ☺️ but you can adjust the ingredients !
