How to Make Super Moist, Chocolatey Cookies From Cake Mix

by Mitzi Kesterson

Supplies

  • 1 box of cake mix (I used devil's food)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 a cup)
  • 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Toffee pieces (optional)
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Get your supplies together.

    Step 2

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

    Step 3

Soften your butter. You may do this by letting the butter reach room temperature. To speed the process, I cut the butter into pieces and stir it with a fork.

    Step 4

When your butter is softened, you can add the other ingredients.

    Step 5

Mix in an entire box of cake mix. I used devil's food because that's what I had. However, you can use whatever you like best.

    Step 6

Here's the cake mix added to the butter. I usually add wet ingredients first, but I didn't this time.

    Step 7

    Close up, slightly mixed.

    Step 8

Add 2 tablespoons of oil. I used olive oil. I had it on hand, and it has some healthy qualities.

    Step 9

Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

    Step 10

    Add two eggs.

    Step 11

You may mix the ingredients with a fork.

    Step 12

You may mix with a mixer, but I find a fork easier.

    Step 13

Add chocolate chips and toffee--or whatever mix-ins you like in cookies.

    Step 14

Mix until all ingredients are moist. If your consistency is too dry, add a bit if water until all the ingredients are wet. Don't make it runny, though.

    Step 15

Scoop out the dough. An ice cream scoop makes this easy.

    Step 16

Put your dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet. Squash them slightly with the scoop or spoon so they will look more cookie-like when they have baked.

    Step 17

They should look something like this.

    Step 18

Bake them in the oven at 350 degrees.

    Step 19

Bake for 8-10 minutes. If they are large cookies, 9 minutes will. Still keep them very moist and chewy. Smaller cookies will need less time.

    Step 20

    Let them cool and enjoy.

    Step 21

I wanted cookies, but I didn't have supplies for cookie dough. I did, however, have cake mix. We liked them so much, I may substitute these for my regular cookie dough.
