How to Make Spanish Sangria

by Bri Joyce

A quick & easy recipe to make a Spanish Sangria!

  • 1 Bottle Dry Red Wine
  • 1/2 - 1 1/2 Cups Rum (light)
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3 Oranges (medium-large)
  • 2 Lemons (medium-large)
  • 2 Limes (medium-large)
  • Instructions

    Step 1

The ingregients: Ive chosen a Pinot Noir (not as dry) and a coconut rum (changing it up a little...for a traditional taste use regular light rum)

    Step 2

Uncork your wine...screw all the way into the cork

    Step 3

Press the arms down to pull the cork to the top of the bottle

    Step 4

    Pull the cork out

    Step 5

Pour the entire bottle into a pitcher (I used a 2 quart pitcher here)

    Step 6

Add your rum (this time I chose to use 1 1/2 cups but I recommend 1 cup)

    Step 7

Time to juice the fruit! 🍊

    Step 8

Cut 2 oranges, 1 lemon and 1 lime in half

    Step 9

Squeeze your oranges until all of the juice has been extracted

    Step 10

2 medium to large oranges should get you approximately 3/4 cup as you can see here

    Step 11

    Repeat with the lemon

    Step 12

1 medium to large lemon should yield about 1/2 cup

    Step 13

    Again, repeat with the lime

    Step 14

And again, you should get about 1/2 cup from 1 medium to large lime

    Step 15

Get your 1/2 cup of sugar (more or less to taste)

    Step 16

Add the sugar to your Sangria

    Step 17

Stir until the sugar is dissolved

    Step 18

Cut your third orange in half

    Step 19

Cut half of the oranges into nice slices to be places into the pitcher

    Step 20

Cut the second half into wedges to be used on your toothpicks/skewers

    Step 21

    Repeat with your second lemon

    Step 22

Hint: remove as many visible seeds as possible ;P

    Step 23

    Repeat with your second lime

    Step 24

Place the fruit in the Sangria and give it a light stir

    Step 25

I made these little toothpick garnishes with a marschino cherry on the end to fancy up the wine glasses 😉

    Step 26

Store your garnishes in a small tupperware container in the fridge while the Sangria chills and marinades

    Step 27

Serve on ice in a wine glass and enjoy!
