How to Make Shoo Fly Cake

Supplies

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350°

    Step 2

    Grease one 9x13 inch pan.

    Step 3

    Dissolve baking soda in boiling water. Set aside

    Step 4

    Mix together four, brown sugar, salt, and vegetable oil to form a crumb like mixture

    Step 5

    Reserve 1 cup of crumbs

    Step 6

    Mix the remaining crumbs with water and soda mixture.

    Step 7

    Pour batter into prepared pan

    Step 8

    Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top

    Step 9

    Bake for 45 minutes or until done
