How to Make Perfect Poached Eggs

by JšŸ’‹

Supplies

  • Eggs
  • White vinegar
  • Small pot
  • Slotted spoon
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Fill a small pot about half way with water and bring to a light summer

    Step 2

When water comes to simmer- add about half a TBSP of white vinegar to water. This helps the egg hold together :)

    Step 3

Next, crack an egg into a measuring cup or ramekin

    Step 4

Now, this is an important step for a perfect poached egg. Stir the water in a circular motion to create a whirlpool (for lack of better word) for your egg.

    Step 5

While water is still swirling, quickly but gently drop egg into the center of the whirlpool.

    Step 6

Allow egg to cook for about 3-5mins depending how runny you like your yolk, then remove with a slotted spoon.

    Step 7

As you can see in the previous picture, the egg has held together nicely and there is minimal egg white floating around in the water thanks to the vinegar/whirlpool bath

    Step 8

I'm trying to loose baby weight so I'm having my poached egg on a slice of dry whole wheat bread w/ tomato slices, a piece of natural smoked turkey and some fresh chives... Less than 200 calories! Yum
