How to Make Parmesan & Panko Crusted Fried Green Tomatoes 😋

A nice spin on a southern favorite!!

Supplies

  • Green tomatoes
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Panko bread crumbs
  • Flour
  • Salt & pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Oil
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Here are the ingredients. I didn't measure the dry ingredients. I grabbed a shallow bowl & dumped in equal parts flour, Panko bread crumbs & Parmesan cheese. I also added salt, pepper& garlic powder.

    Step 2

    Nice, firm green tomatoes.

    Step 3

    Slice tomatoes. I seasoned them with a little salt & pepper at this point. But not too much though!

    Step 4

    Here's the bowl for the egg wash. Lightly beat the egg & add 1 tbsp of water. I added pepper also.

    Step 5

    Dry ingredients. Here I also added salt & pepper to taste with garlic powder.

    Step 6

    Dip each slice into egg wash.

    Step 7

    Then dredge each slice into dry mixture. Make sure to coat it well!

    Step 8

    I used my deep fryer & let the oil heat up per the instruction manual. I fried 4 slices in each batch. They're done when they float to the top which was about 2 minutes. At this point I'm drooling!

    Step 9

    Finished dish!! Place on paper towel to drain excess oil. Hit them with a pinch of salt while hot. I also sprinkled additional Parmesan cheese on top too! DELISH! Thanks for watching! 😊
