How to Make Oven Caramel Corn

Supplies

  • Popcorn kernels & oil
  • 2 Cups Brown sugar
  • ½ Cups Light corn syrup
  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ Teaspoons Baking soda
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Gather supplies.

    Step 2

    Cover bottom of pan with a thin coat of oil. Once oil is sizzling, add popcorn kernels to fill bottom of pan. Pour popped kernels in large bowl, remove any unpopped kernels.

    Step 3

    In large sauce pan, add brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and vanilla. Mix well. Bring to a boil.

    Step 4

    Boil for five minutes, stirring constantly.

    Step 5

    Remove from heat and add baking soda, stirring until dissolved. Pour syrup over popcorn and mix well. (Optional add-ins; almonds, peanuts, cashews, etc.)

    Step 6

    Spread popcorn on large jelly roll pans. You will need a pan with an edge, for stirring up as it bakes.

    Step 7

    Add pans to preheated 250 degree oven. Stir every 15 minutes for one hour.

    Step 8

    Spread on wax paper or paper bags to cool.

    Step 9

    Great for parties! Store in airtight container.
