How to Make Orange Poppyseed Cake

  • 2 ½ Cups plain flour
  • 1 ¼ caster sugar
  • 230 Grams butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • ½ Cups fresh orange juice
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ Cups greek style natural yohgurt
  • 1 fresh orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoons finely grated orange rind
  • ¼ Cups Poppyseeds
  • 2 ½ Teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 Cup icing sugar
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius

    Step 2

    gather ingredients and equiptment

    Step 3

    line cake tin with greaseproof paper.

    Step 4

    mix yoghurt poppy seeds and orange juice

    Step 5

    next cream the butter and sugar in a big bowl untill soft and smooth. Make sure there are no lumps of butter Left.

    Step 6

    Add the eggs one by one mixing after each one.

    Step 7

    Next sift the flour and baking powder into the egg and butter mix.

    Step 8

    add the poppyseed mix and fold/stir together for a few minutes until the mixtures are all combined.

    Step 9

    carefully pour the cake mix into the cake tin.

    Step 10

    Bake in the oven for an hour or until a knife comes out clean.

    Finally mix the icing sugar and the extra orange juice together in a bowl and carefully pour over cake.
