Every Christmas I have tried to make sweets and failed miserably every single time. I haven't given up hope to crack the sweet making code. See tap for measurements
Stir everything together in a microwave safe dish. Use one that is quit deep, because the sugar mix will expand during cooking.
Grease another dish for the caramel to set in. Cook the caramel on high in the microwave. Cook for 2 minutes and stir, cook for 2 minutes and stir, cook for 2 minutes and you are done. As easy as that
The caramel after 6 minutes in the microwave It is hot HOT so take care. Add salt if you are into that sort of thing.
Pour the caramel into the greased container and let it cool down.
Cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper. Keep them in a airtight container. Mine turned out a bit hard and the last ones I cut splintered so next time I'll give them 30 seconds less.
I have successfully made my first Christmas sweets and they are just lovely chewy and stick to your teeth as they should. And best of all they tastes just like caramels should do.
Just made caramel again and gave them 5 minutes and 30 seconds. They came out very soft, more like fudge. I could cut them and wrap them in wax paper with no problems. My micro ovens high is 1000 w.
