Here are all the supplies needed.
Let's begin by making a person. Grab a section of newspaper to start.
Using a marker, draw two lines at the top of the page and one near the bottom at the center, each about 4" long. See the black lines drawn on the newspaper above for reference.
Cut along the lines with scissors
You should now have three flaps on the top and two on the bottom of the newspaper. The top three flaps represent the head and arms, and the bottom two flaps will be the legs.
Squeeze the sides of the newspaper together so that it will be easier to tape.
Fold down the middle flap at the top to form the head of your figurine.
Choose a color of masking tape for the head, and wrap the tape around the middle flap that you had previously folded down.
Once you have wrapped enough tape to cover the head, fold the other flaps out as shown above.
Pick a different color of tape to wrap around the torso, or middle part, of your figurine.
Wrap the tape from below the arms to the top of the legs. Here is how your figurine should look once you have finished taping the torso.
Now let's move to the arms. Twist the arm before you begin taping.
Grab another color of masking tape to wrap around the arm.
Once you have finished one arm, begin twisting the other arm.
Wrap some tape around the other arm.
After you have finished taping the arms, twist one of the legs and begin taping.
Once one leg is finished, twist the other leg.
Wrap tape around the leg.
To cover the newspaper visible below the head, wrap a piece of tape around the neck.
Now, let's add a cape! Take another section of newspaper and hold it against the back of your figurine to measure the size of the cape. Using a marker, draw out the cape as big as you'd like!
Cut out your cape.
Start taping over one side.
Wrap the tape over the newspaper to the back.
Tape over the back of the newspaper as well to finish your cape.
Cut off any excess newspaper if necessary.
Make a roll out of tape and stick it to the back of your figurine.
Add the cape onto your figurine!
Next, grab some googly eyes.
Tape the eyes onto your figurine!
For finishing touches, draw some designs.
And there you have it, your own superhero figurine!
You can make figurines of different shapes and sizes. Just take some tape and newspaper, and have fun!
