How to Make Lemon Squares

Supplies

  • For the short bread
  • ½ Cups Room temp. butter (1stick)
  • 1 Cup All purpose flour
  • ¼ Cups Powdered sugar
  • ¼ Teaspoons Vanilla
  • ¼ Teaspoons Salt (if using unsalted butter)
  • For the lemon layer
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons All purpose flour
  • ¼ Cups Lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon zest
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    PART 1 the short bread Make sure your butter is room temperature! SUPER IMPORTANT

    1/2 Cup or a stick of butter Add salt if using unsalted (check ingredient list)

    1 cup of flour

    Step 4

    1/4 teaspoon vanilla

    Step 5

    1/4 cup powdered sugar

    Step 6

    Fold until everything comes together like so

    Add to a dish and flattened it out as evenly as possible then use a fork to make holes all over the short bread BAKE AT AN OVEN AT 350 DEGREES FOR 22 MINUTES

    Part 2 The lemon layer USE REAL LEMONS

    zest the lemon. I used a microplane but you can use a knife or a zester

    1 tablespoon of lemon zest

    Step 11

    Squeeze out lemon juice

    1/4 cup lemon juice

    To a bowl add 2 eggs

    and an egg yolk

    Step 15

    add 1 cup of sugar

    Add the lemon zest

    And lemon juice

    2 tablespoons of flour

    Mix well IMPORTANT

    POUR ONTO SHORT BREAD AND Bake in an oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
