How to Make Jamaican Banana Fritters

A sweet treat which can be eaten as a snack or dessert. Really nice with ice cream!


  • 5 Really ripe bananas (brown spots)
  • 2 Cups Gluten-free self raising flour
  • 3 Tablespoons Dark cane sugar
  • ½ Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ Teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Rapeseed oil for deep frying
  • Light cane sugar to sprinkle
  • Pot
  • Plate
  • Paper towel
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Mash bananas to create a soft batter.

    Step 2

    Add dark cane sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, sea salt & vanilla. Combine.

    Step 3

    Add flour and mix to create a smooth batter.

    Step 4

    Add a spoonful or desired amount of batter to heated oil and fry for approx 5 mins or until golden brown. You can also use a piping bag for a nice neat fritter 😉.

    Step 5

    When cooked, remove from oil.

    Step 6

    Place on plate with paper towel to soak up excess oil and sprinkle with light cane sugar.

    Step 7

    All done! Serve warm as a snack or dessert. Goes really well with icecream. Enjoy!
