Pit and chop the dates.
Mix dates and golden raisins in a pan.
Coarsely chop the walnuts.
Add sweet red wine to the pan.
Any kosher red sweet wine can be used. I chose Manischewitz.
Add just a little water to cover the fruits.
Cook on very low heat, stirring occasionally, until the dates fall apart into a mush and the mix thickens into a soft paste (15-25 minutes).
Pour into a bowl and sprinkle with walnuts. Chill and serve.
