Place your egg whites in a bowl!
Begin beating on high...
Until foamy, add sugar and cream of tartar, a little at a time.
Beat mixture until medium peaks form. Not stiff!! :)
Melt chocolate in a bowl!
Prepare your water and rum mixture!
Stir chocolate until smooth!
And then whisk in water/rum mixture, until fully incorporated. :)
Add your egg whites to the chocolate mixture in two additions, combine until you no longer have streaks in the chocolate!
Place your heavy whipping cream in a bowl! Tip** making whipped cream is much easier if you start with very cold ingredients. I place my bowl and whisk in the freezer a few minutes prior to whipping!
Beat on high speed for a few minutes!
Until medium peaks have formed. Be careful not to over whip your whipped cream :)
Again, fold it into your batter in 2 separate additions. Stir only enough to combine. :)
Oooo and there you have it, delicious chocolate mousse! Taste test at this point!! 😝
To make the chocolate bowls, blow up your balloons, this recipe will make 1 qt of mousse, and will fill approximately 6 chocolate bowls!
Temper chocolate in the microwave!
Dip your balloon into the chocolate, it doesn't have to be perfect!
And place on parchment paper to harden.
After about 30 min in the fridge, I was able to pop the balloon, peel it off, and ta da! Edible chocolate bowls!
Allow the mousse to set overnight in the refrigerator if you have time. The next day pull it out...
And fill a pastry bag with the chocolatey goodness!
Pipe into the bowls and sprinkle with chocolate shavings and chocolate designs! :) perfect for an anytime fancy dessert to impress!
