How to Make Easy Cake Pops

Supplies

  • Cake mix
  • Icing
  • Melted Chocolate
  • Sprinkles
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Bake a cake following directions from the box

    Step 2

    Let the cake cool then crumble it

    Step 3

    Mix it with the icing (about 3/4ths of a tub for a box of cake mix)

    Step 4

    Roll the cake/frosting into little balls - refrigerate for an hour

    Step 5

    Melt the chocolate: I used blue wilton candy melts, in the microwave at 50% power, stirring the chocolate every 30 seconds until melted

    Step 6

    Dip the lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and insert into the cake ball

    Step 7

    Refrigerate about another hour

    Step 8

    Dip the cake pop in melted chocolate

    Step 9

    Decorate: here i used icing and sprinkles for rainbow cake pops

    Another easy way to decorate is to add sugar pearls before the chocolate dries

    Update: I found a melting chocolate that works a lot better than wilton - got it at Target

    The process is the same but the cake pops come out a lot smoother...

    and the chocolate coating is thinner, so they are sweet but not too sweet

    I also used this chocolate to cover strawberries - looked good and tasted great and only took about half an hour to make about 40 start to finish
