How to Make Earl Grey Scones

These scones are absolutely amazing. Use your favorite tea in the scones to make them yours!


  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • ¾ Cups Butter
  • ½ Cups Granulated sugar plus extra for sprinkling
  • 2 Tablespoons Earl grey tea
  • 1 Egg
  • 5 Teaspoons Baking powder
  • ½ Teaspoons Salt
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Here are all of the ingredients! The butter must be very cold. Preheat your oven to 400 F

    Step 2

    Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and earl grey tea in a large bowl

    Step 3

    Here is the flour mixture

    Step 4

    Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the flour mixture

    Step 5

    Cut the butter into the flour until you get pea-sized pieces (don't be afraid to use your hands!)

    Step 6

    Perfect! Now crack the egg

    Step 7

    Add the egg to the milk and whisk together

    Step 8

    Step 9

    Add the milk mixture to the flour/butter mixture and stir until just combined

    Step 10

    Now flour a clean surface and knead the dough a few times until smooth

    Step 12

    Knead knead knead!

    Step 13

    Pat into a 12 inch round circle

    Step 14

    Cut into eight triangle pieces, like a pizza

    Step 15

    Place the eight scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

    Step 16

    Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of the scones

    Step 17

    Now into the oven for 15 minutes or until lightly brown on top

    Step 18

    The scones took exactly 15 minutes to become lightly golden brown

    Step 19

    Pair with some honey, fruit preserves, fresh fruit and of course, a nice cup if tea! Enjoy!
