by Renee Butler

  • 2 Chicken breasts
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ Cups Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Water
  • ½ Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Teaspoons Garlic powder
  • ½ Teaspoons Cumin
  • Oil for frying
  • Instructions

    Step 1

I love Chik-Fil-A but I hadn't had any in quite awhile after the gay rights issues and moving to Seattle... So I made my own recipe by looking at the ingredient list... And it is spot on! Enjoy!!

    Step 2

Start by gathering your ingredients. It makes life so much easier!

    Step 3

    Break egg in small bowl.

    Step 4

    Add milk.

    Step 5

Add water and stir to blend.

    Step 6

Mixture should look like this. Set aside.

    Step 7

In a separate bowl, combine flour and paprika.

    Step 8

    Add cumin.

    Step 9

    Add garlic.

    Step 10

    Add sugar and salt.

    Step 11

Stir to combine. Mixture will look like this.

    Step 12

Grab a deep skillet with lid.

    Step 13

Add enough oil to fry the chicken. You could fill it up and submerge the chicken or use less and flip halfway through.

    Step 14

Heat oil over medium heat until a pinch of flour thrown in sizzles.

    Step 15

Dip each chicken breast in egg wash...

    Step 16

    Then dip in flour mixture.

    Step 17

    They should look like this.

    Step 18

    Add to hot oil.

    Step 19

Flip the chicken using tongs, trying not to pierce the coating.

    Step 20

Turn frequently to prevent sticking. This is after one flip (about 2 minutes).

    Step 21

This is the second flip.. Again about 3 min.

    Step 22

You don't have to be exact. You just want to make sure the chicken is done and the outside golden but not burnt. I used very thin chicken breast cutlets to make sure.

    Step 23

    Step 24

Enjoy on a buttered and toasted hamburger bun with dill pickles or eat as is.. Amazing flavor!!

    Step 25

Note: there are two differences between my recipe and the ingredient list on Chik-Fil-A's website. Powdered milk and MSG. Also, they use peanut oil. I do not taste a difference but just so you know :)

    Step 26

This recipe also makes amazing chicken strips!! Just like Chik-Fil-A!!!!
