Measure out all ingredients.
Beat butter until it is smooth.
Add in half of the powdered sugar and mix until the sugar is thoroughly incorporated with the butter. Then add in the rest of the powdered sugar.
Add in vanilla and milk. Add in milk to make it the consistency you want.( I used 4 tablespoons)
The buttercream should come out smooth!!
The buttercream is perfect to pipe on a cake. There was enough buttercream to ice the whole cake and plenty more left over.
