How to Make Black Bean Brownies

These flourless, protein-packed treats will become one of your new favorites!


  • 1 can (15.5oz) black beans, drained/rinsed
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 TBSP coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings (I used coconut)
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Thoroughly rinse and drain your black beans and add them to your food processor or blender.

    Step 2

    Blend until the beans become a smooth paste.

    Step 3

    To the puréed beans, add the eggs, coconut oil, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, and pinch of salt.

    Step 4

    Blend all ingredients until smooth, scraping down the sides midway through and making sure everything has been well combined.

    Step 5

    Pour into a greased 8"x8" pan and smooth out.

    Step 6

    Sprinkle your chocolate chips and optional toppings over the batter and bake in a preheated 350*f oven for 35-40 minutes. (If you can't tell, I love coconut) :)

    Step 7

    Remove from the oven when your brownies rise up and slightly crack on the top. You won't believe how good these smell! Let them slightly cool in the pan before devouring! Enjoy!
