Hi there~ this apple pie is the perfect treat for any chilly autumn evening!
Peel and core 6 large apples, or 8 small ones. Don't forget to wash them first!
Cut the apples into smaller chunks, and place into a large bowl.
Pour 1 cup of sugar into a measuring cup, then dump it into the bowl.
Next, pour 1/4 cup of flour into the measuring cup, then bowl.
Take 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and sprinkle it over the sugar and flour. Proceed to mix contents together.
To make pie crusts quickly, I use the Betty Crocker brand. In one package, 2 nine-inch crusts can be made; one for the top, one for the bottom. Follow instructions on box.
For two crusts, the box states to use the package of mix and 1/4 cup of water. Then, mix together.
After mixing, you'll have 1 big ball of mix. Separate into two halves, one for each crust.
Let's roll out the first one! Lay down some flour so your ball doesn't get stuck to the surface. Use a rolling pin to roll out the crust.
It doesn't have to be a perfect circle, just large enough to fit into your nine-inch pie crust pan!
Place the crust into the pan, pressing firmly. Peel off any excess crust!
Place apple filling into the pan. Leave it to the side as you roll out the top layer of crust.
Roll out your top crust. If you want to get a little creative, make lattice strips or use a cookie cutter in the center, like I did!
Break up and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of butter onto the apple filling.
Place your top layer of crust on the apple filling, and peel off the excess. Use a fork to pinch down the sides. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and place pie inside for an hour. :)
I let mine bake for a *little* over an hour. It smells delicious and the crust is a nice golden brown (the light is deceiving). Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!!!
