We took our upcycled sled to a hill to test it. Friends joined us bringing their plastic sleds. At the end of the experience over half the plastic sleds were broken. Our sled held up like a champ.

Here's some video proof. We also road it tandem (330 lbs.)!  At the end we all took turns riding it while standing. It was awesome and the no-slip carpet padding performed flawlessly.
