This is an example of what we're making. We'll be using different beads, but the idea is the same. It's similar to what you've probably seen on Pinterest.
Here I am using 1/8inch ribbon because that's what I had on hand. These steps can easily be adjusted for a necklace but beware if you use glass beads it'll get heavy. Set your beads up in advance.
Measure about 6ins and insert your needle into the backside of the ribbon. The back will be the less shiny side. It will become the "inside" of the ribbon attached to your first bead.
Pull it through an insert the needle into the front side, going in the direction of the longer end. DO **NOT** PULL IT THROUGH! (Sorry did I yell? Lol seriously though.... Don't do it.
This is what you should have. The tail of you thread should be clipped close.
Add your first bead. Hold the needle firmly in one hand.
Gently ease it to the top, don't let it slip off.
Bring the ribbon up, you should be working with the long end now, and over the needle as close to the bead as you can get it. Tighter looks neater.
Repeat. Bead on needle.
Coming from the opposite side, bring ribbon up and onto the needle close the the bead.
When the needle is full like this, begin letting the beads/ribbon slide off the end, don't pull the needle through all the way, just let a bead or two go.
Repeat until you've used all your bead. It's not very pretty! But wait!
This is obviously two pictures spliced together. I needed to hold the camera in one hand lol. Hold the last bead and ribbon gently but firmly. **Slowly** pull the needle and thread through.
Nice and tight and beautiful.
Holding the ribbon around the least bead, insert the needle back through the last bead, give a final tug in the thread to make sure the bracelet is tightly weaved and begin going back through.
Come up every so often and tighten.
When you get the the beginning bead again, go through the ribbon and back toward the bead. Before pulling it through wrap the thread around the needle three times.
Hold the needle and wrapped thread close to the bead and slowly pull through.
To knots on either end as close to the beads as you can. This add s some security and hides your thread ends.
Here's a crappy video on how to tie it close. Sorry about my breathing I'm not feeling well 😷 if you can't/don't want to watch the movie there are text instructions in the next step.
Tue a standard knot very loosely. Slowly push the loose knot toward the bead, pulling gently on the tail of the ribbon as you go, when you get flush with the bead pull tight. Repeat if desired.
Tie a couple of knots on the ends and trim at an angle to prevent fraying. Try to make them the same length.
Tie on with a cute bow! Viola!
