Choose a pattern for your quilt. There are many books available...
Magazines are also a good source of ideas.
Choose your fabrics. Your pattern will tell you have many colors you will need as well as how many yards of each color.
Assemble your tools.
Some patterns may require you to buy a special ruler to use with the rotary cutter. A good batting is important.
Chain stitching numerous small parts is a huge time saver.
Chain stitching works for bigger pieces also.
Once the top is done, layer the backing, batting and the top together. Using safety pins, pin the three layers together in preparation for either hand or machine quilting.
Enjoy your completed quilt.
