How to Make a Pool Noodle Abacus

by T F

Simple, inexpensive, & most of all, a fun addition to the backyard for the kiddos.

Supplies

  • Pool noodles, cut into variety of sizes
  • Rope
  • Screw hooks
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Cut pool noodles into different sizes. These were 2 1/2, 3, and 4 inches.

    Step 2

Attach screw hook in a spot where you will put up the abacus.

    Step 3

We were making two rows, so we attached one more screw hook, approx. 12 inches lower.

    Step 4

You will need to knot one end of the rope on one side, and it will string through the other side. Our abacus was approx six feet wide.

    Step 5

Put noodles on the rope in any pattern you want. After noodles are all strung on. Tighten rope and knot off.

    Step 6

    Step 7

Kids love sliding noodles, counting, etc. Great addition to the backyard!
