How to Make a Origami Japanese Cherry Blossom Tray

by Julia Ochoa

You may have some trouble the first time around, but once you get the hang of it, you'll have a whole bouquet of these flowers! I got this pattern out of a book by Mari Ono.

Step 1

First, fold in half

Step 2

Then, fold one side so it lines up with the crease.

Step 3

Do the same with the other side.

Step 4

Fold the top down as far as it will go.

Step 5

Open all the folds.

Step 6

Fold the top back down

Step 7

Fold the short side so it lines up with the crease.

Step 8

Do the same on the other side.

Step 9

Fold the paper in half backwards.

Step 10

Open up the top flap.

Step 11

Fold up the bottom triangle.

Step 12

An tuck it into the flap.

Step 13

Now, fold back what you unfolded before.

Step 14

Fold the top point down.

Step 15

Flip it over, and open it up.

Step 16

Flatten the triangular side.

Step 17

Now flatten the pointed piece, be careful not to tear the paper.

Step 18

Now open it up.

Step 19

Pinch the opposite side to make the end fold in.

Step 20

Make 4 more, then put glue on the whole slanted side and hold it together with the one next to it to glue them together.

Step 21

I also made a smaller one out of 3" by 3" squares of paper, however, that was VERY difficult because I used thicker paper, so I highly recommend practicing with the bigger ones first. Enjoy!
