This is so easy, I almost had trouble making a guide for it lol. It's a great alternative if you're trying to be healthier, or are on a budget, or have kids but/and love soda.
The first step is picking the right carbonated water beverage. Seltzer water, whatever the brand, has very little sodium and no sugar. It should only have 1 ingredient. Carbonated water.
Here's a close up of the nutritional facts. In my blog mentioned on the title page, there are comparisons of different types of carbonated water beverages, and different brands. This was about 1$.
Choose a juice. I buy bolthouse juice in bulk when it's on sale. True fruit juices won't freeze completely. That's okay though. Pour it into your super cute ice cube tray. Freeze 6 hours or overnight.
The point of freezing the juice is so you get all the cold and all the flavor, adding water ice cubes to the drink could water it down and make it less sweet.
Add a few 'cubes' to you cup. Take this opportunity to talk to your kids about the feel, taste and smell of the juice cubes. Ask them what the effects of the seltzer water will be.
Pour on your chilled seltzer. Voila!! Fake soda, no additives, only natural sugars, no worries!
Kids love it because its still sweet and bubbly, parents love it because its natural and inexpensive.
Try it with watermelon purée mixed with a splash of lemon (still freeze into cute ice cubes) It's a wonderfully refreshing and classy drink for a grown up summer picnic also!!
