How to Make a Coconut Smoothie

Learn how to cut open a young coconut and use it for a simple smoothie. Hope you enjoy!

Supplies

  • 1 Tablespoon Young coconut
  • 1 Tablespoon Banana
  • 5 Tablespoons Ice cubes
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • Mint (optional)
  • Butcher knife
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Using a butcher knife carefully cut a opening in the top of the young coconut. I usually make 4 cuts in the top essentially cutting a square.

    Step 2

    Remove the top!

    Step 3

    Filter the coconut water.

    Step 4

    Carefully cut the coconut in half.

    Step 5

    Using a spoon separate the young coconut meat from the inside of the coconut.

    Step 6

    Remove any brown fiberous bits from the young coconut meat.

    Step 7

    Put the young coconut meat in a blender.

    Step 8

    Pour in the filtered coconut water. Add 5-6 ice cubes. Optionally, if you have frozen pineapple you can add a cup or two.

    Step 9

    Add a banana.

    Step 10

    Add 2 tablespoons of honey.

    Step 11

    Blend for around 30 seconds.

    Step 12

    Serve! Mint is optional.
