How to Make a Bottle Bug

This Bottle Bug decoration will be super cute hanging indoors or out! You'll stain a bottle and decorated to look like a colorful, imaginary insect that won't ever bite!

Supplies

  • 1 Small glass bottle
  • 2 Rhinestones
  • DecoArt Glass Stain
  • E6000 adhesive
  • 2 Pipe cleaners
  • 2 Bells
  • Assorted beads
  • Disposable cup
  • 6 Inches Wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    These are the supplies you'll use to make your Bottle Bug.

    Step 2

    Choose a color of glass stain and carefully pour it into your bottle.

    Step 3

    Rotate the bottle.

    Step 4

    Let the excess stain drain out of your bottle.

    Step 5

    Put dots of E6000 glue on the bottle where your eyes will be located. Let the glue set for about 1 to 2 minutes to become tacky.

    Step 6

    Move the rhinestones in place for your bug's eyes.

    Step 7

    String beads and bells on both ends of one pipe cleaner in any pattern you choose.

    Step 8

    Twist the ends together to form an oval.

    Step 9

    If needed, rearrange the bells and beads so that they are on the top and bottom of the oval.

    Step 10

    Twist the wings.

    Step 11

    Lay the wings on top of the bug. Add the second pipe cleaner on top of the first and hold in place about 1 inch from the end.

    Step 12

    Attach the wings with the second pipe cleaner.

    Step 13

    Bend your wire into an S shape.

    Step 14

    Insert the smaller curve of the wire under the wings. Your Bottle Bug is ready to hang!
