First, sauté and brown your meat with minced garlic and chopped onions.
Once the meat is browned, drain any excess oil and add taco seasoning accordingly. Follow the packet instructions.
My packet said to add water and simmer until it evaporated.
While your your ground beef is simmering, or after it's done, you can start working on slicing your olives. You can buy pre-sliced ones as well.
Next, dice the tomato.
Set both the olives and tomatoes aside.
Grab a dish or pan you can bake in and layer the refried beans on the bottom. Not too thick or thin.. Also depends on preference. How much or little do you like? Remember this is a layered dish.
I used a smaller pan because I made two dip servings. Only used half the meat for the next layer. If you want to use it all, use a bigger pan/dish with more surface area. Mix in some shredded cheese
Take half of your olives and tomatoes and layer it on top. You can add more or less to your liking. Just remember to save a little more to garnish your dip once it's ready.
Bake at 325F for about 12-15 minutes. Everything is cooked- you just want to make sure it's hot. While in the oven, shred your lettuce.
Add a layer of cheese on top and throw it back in the oven even if it's off already just to melt the cheese. 😋
Top it off with sour cream and shredded lettuce! Don't be stingy on the sour cream. 😜
Garnish with the rest of your sliced olives and diced tomatoes and it's ready!
