iOS 8 allows you to use alternate keyboards. In this tutorial I'll help you setup the SwiftKey keyboard which has been a popular custom keyboard on Android and is now available on iOS.

Now whenever you open the keyboard next, press the globe icon for a couple seconds and the keyboard options will appear

Once you select SwiftKey the keyboard will change. If you haven't provided full access yet you will see a message about why word predictions aren't available

If you gave full access you'll see the word predictions as you swipe around the keyboard. Tap the globe icon again if you want to switch back to the regular keyboard. Happy Swiping!
