The problem is that setting up each finger with Touch ID needs a lot of scans to be reliable. The basic setup is pretty good, but adding more scans really improves accuracy.

There's a hidden feature here. Touch the Home button gently like you're trying to unlock your phone. You should see the matching Finger 1-5 in the list flash. Try a few times if you don't see it.

Do this many times for each finger. After each flash, move the finger slightly. Try training from the tip of your finger to the edges of where your finger touches the sensor when you hold the phone.

Keep training your registered Touch ID fingers as much as you can. A few dozen times is really good. Use different angles. If you notice a finger being hard to recognize, go back and do it more.
