How to Do Homebrew Beer

  • 1 6 quart stainless steel pot
  • 1 Quart Another 6qt stainless steel pot (optional)
  • 1 Strainer
  • 1 Thermometer 0-220 degrees

    Step 1

    This home brew kit is from Barely and Wine in Modesto, CA. It has all the ingredients you need. One gallon kit- grains, hops, yeast, sanitizer, blowoff tube, bottle caps, priming sugar(for bottling)

    Step 2

    Step 1. Steep the grains at 144-152 degrees for one hour. In last five minutes raise temp to 170 degrees.

    Step 3

    Have one gallon 170degree water ready to drain over the mash which you put into strainer. The liquid that drains thru into the the pot is your WORT. The wort is the base beer.

    Step 4

    Now boil the wort for one hour. Depending on the type of beer you are making, you will add hops at various times for flavor, color and aroma. The kit had detailed instructions.

    Step 5

    After the boil, you cool the wort to 70degrees then transfer it to your fermenting bottle, pitch the yeast, place the blowoff valve on it then 24 hours later watch the fermenting bubble percolate.

    Step 6

    After 7-10 days of fermenting the bubbles will stop. Now it is time to bottle. Add the priming sugar and bottle.

    Step 7

    After about 10-14 days in the bottle it is time to chill it and drink! Enjoy!
