How to Create Lacy Hearts for Valentine's Day.

Cute paper hearts that can stand alone or add to a layered paper valentine

  • 1 Single hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Colored paper of your choosing
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Fold paper in half from left to right. Make a crease with your finger.

    Step 2

With the closed edge facing left, cut a half heart shape. Do not cut the closed edge.

    Step 3

Using the scissors, create a scallop shape on the edges of the half heart.

    Step 4

Unfold your heart and trim edges as needed.

    Step 5

Use your single hole puncher to evenly punch holes around the inside edges.* Note: the left side holes are spaced further apart. The closer the holes, the lacier the edges will be (as seen on right)

    Step 6

Decorate your design as you wish! You can use this as a lacing activity to build fine motor skills as well. In this case use thick paper ( card stock) or cover thin paper in laminate or contact paper.
