How to Cook Southwestern Turkey Soup

A very simple, low calorie, healthy soup with a hint of heat.

Supplies

  • 1 Pounds Ground turkey
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 ½ Tablespoons Chili powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Onion powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 1 14.5 oz Can diced tomatoes
  • 1 14.5 oz Can tomato sauce
  • 2 14.5 oz Cans black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 32 Ounces Chicken broth
  • 2 Cups Frozen corn
  • 15 Ounces Salsa
  • 3 Tablespoons Green chiles or jalapeños, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Gather all ingredients

    Step 2

    Brown meat in a pot with olive oil at medium heat

    Step 3

    Add all spices to the meat and stir.

    Step 4

    Add remaining ingredients, bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

    Step 5

    Serve topped with tortilla strips for an added crunch!
