How to Cook South Indian Upma

South Indian breakfast recipe. Fast to cook and heat it hot. Best served with peanut chutney.

Supplies

  • ½ Onions
  • ½ Cups Ground nuts
  • 1 Curry leaves
  • ½ Bunches Cilantro
  • ½ Teaspoons Turmeric powder
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • Salt
  • 2 Cups Sooji / upma rava
  • Olive oil
  • 5 Green chillies
  • Mustard seeds
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Mustard seeds, onions and green chillies

    Step 2

    Add tomatoes when onions are cooked

    Step 3

    After tomatoes are cooked pour 2 cups of water. Not too much or it would be watery. Add curry leaves, cilantro and salt.

    Step 4

    Here is the sooji.. Known as upma rava too

    When the water starts to boil add the sooji and start to stir so there won't form any lumps. Make sure the flame is on low heat.

    Step 7

    Cook until you get the water evaporated. And until desired consistency.

    Step 8

    It's done.

    Step 9

    Serve it with peanut chutney or any pickle.
