How to Cook Salted Egg Steamed Beancurd

Beancurd is deemed plain & steaming it is one of the simplest way to prepare a beancurd dish. Above all, having a touch of salted egg yolk certainly brings with it a totally new experience.


  • 150 Grams lean meat, minced
  • 2 salted egg yolk, steamed
  • 1 white beancurd, in block
  • 1 Teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 Tablespoon spring onion, chopped
  • 2 shallots, sliced thinly
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil, deep fry shallots
  • ¼ Teaspoons salt (Egg mixture seasoning)
  • ¼ Teaspoons sesame oil (Egg mixture seasoning)
  • ¼ Teaspoons white ground pepper (Egg mixture seasoning)
  • 1 Teaspoon cornstarch (Egg mixture seasoning)
  • ½ Cups water (Egg mixture seasoning)
  • 1 Tablespoon oyster sauce (Mince meat seasoning)
  • 1 Teaspoon light soy sauce (Mince meat seasoning)
  • ¼ Teaspoons sugar (Mince meat seasoning)
  • ¼ Teaspoons white ground pepper (Mince meat seasoning)
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Start by mincing lean meat and garlic. Then chop spring onions and slice thinly shallots to deep-fry for garnishing.

    Step 2

    Wash to remove charcoal paste from salted eggs. Then break the shells and retain the egg yolks.

    Step 3

    Steam the salted egg yolks till cooked, about 7 minutes.

    Step 4

    Mash the cooked egg yolks while still hot and set aside.

    Step 5

    Beat egg with salt, sesame oil, pepper, cornstarch and water in a bowl or measuring cup. Then add in the mashed egg yolk and mix well.

    Step 6

    Remove beancurd from the box and place onto a steaming plate.

    Step 7

    Then pour the egg mixture over the beancurd.

    Step 8

    Place in a steamer, cover and steam on low heat for 10 minutes, or until the egg mixture has set.

    Step 9

    Meanwhile, deep fry the sliced shallots in oil till they turn crispy and golden brown. Set aside to drain on paper towel.

    Step 10

    Retain one tablespoon of oil and saute chopped garlic till fragrant. Add in the minced meat and stir fry till meat is cooked.

    Step 11

    Add in oyster sauce, light soy sauce, sugar and ground pepper. Stir to mix well.

    Step 12

    Then toss the meat mixture over the steamed beancurd and garnish with chopped spring onions and fried shallots before serving. Serve it hot with rice. ENJOY!
