How to Cook Octopus

Supplies

  • Octopus
  • Potatoes
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sweet paprika
  • Sea salt
  • Parsley
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    First lift your octopus from the freezer. YOU NEED TO FREEZE THE OCTOPUS TO HELP TENDERISE IT

    Step 2

    Defrosted octopus

    Step 3

    Give it a wee rinse

    Step 4

    Bring a pot of unsalted water to the boil

    Step 5

    Blanch the octopus 4 times. Place in the water for 15 seconds, lift out. Bring back to boil and repeat

    Step 6

    Wait for it

    Step 7

    15 seconds later

    Step 8

    Back to the boil

    Step 9

    And repeat

    Step 10

    When you have done this 4 times let the water gently simmer for 40 minutes or until tender

    Step 11

    Next wash some potatoes

    Step 12

    Like this

    Step 13

    Add to octopus after 25 minutes

    Step 14

    This is the rest of the stuff you'll need

    Step 15

    Chop the parsley

    Step 16

    Let octopus cool a little

    Step 17

    And the potatoes

    Step 18

    Slice potatoes

    Step 19

    Place in a nice way on a board/plate

    Step 20

    Next remove a tentacle

    Step 21

    And slice

    Step 22

    Place on top of your potatoes

    Step 23

    Sprinkle with sea salt

    Step 24

    Drizzle with good EVOO

    Step 25

    Dust with sweet paprika

    Step 26

    Sprinkle with parsley

    Step 27
