How to Cook Masoor Dal

So good with rice, fried fish and a slice of lemon :)


  • 1 Cup Masoor Dal
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Teaspoon Paanch Phoron
  • 3 Tablespoons Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 0.50 Teaspoons Haldi
  • 2.50 Cups Water
  • Instructions

    Peel ONE of these large onions and chop into fine slices

    Step 3

    Add the oil to the pressure cooker. 3 tablespoon oil and 1 table spoon ghee (add more ghee for taste). After oil begins to sizzle add Add one teaspoon or one capsize Paanch phoron

    Step 4

    Add onion on high flame

    Step 5

    Cut one tomato into chunks and add it to the pressure cooker with the onions.

    Step 6

    Add the dal after straining in hot water. All along keep on high flame.

    Step 7

    Add 2 teaspoons salt, 1/2 teaspoons of haldi and 2.5 cups of water

    Step 8

    Cover and put on high flame. Wait for one whistle and switch off cooker. Let it stay on burner.
