How to Cook Jambalaya

Supplies

  • 6 Slices of bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 Cup Celery, chopped
  • 1 Green bell pepper, seeded & chopped
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • ½ Pounds Ham, cooked & cubed
  • ½ Pounds Chicken, cooked & cubed
  • ½ Pounds Smoked sausage, cooked & cubed
  • 2 14.5 ounce cans of crushed tomatoes, with liquid
  • 2 Cups Beef broth
  • 2 Cups Chicken broth
  • 1 Teaspoon Thyme, dried
  • 2 Teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 Cups White rice, uncooked
  • ½ Pounds Salad shrimp
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    Fry the bacon in a large pot

    Step 2

    When bacon is done, take out with slotted spoon and set aside.

    Step 3

    Add onion, celery, and green pepper to the bacon grease and cook until tender.

    Step 4

    Add ham, chicken, and sausage to the pot.

    Step 5

    Add tomatoes.

    Step 6

    Add beef broth and chicken broth.

    Step 7

    Season with thyme and Cajun seasoning. Bring to a boil.

    Step 8

    When boiling, add rice.

    Step 9

    Bring to a boil, then turn heat to low and cover. Let simmer for 20 minutes, until rice is tender.

    Step 10

    Add bacon and shrimp just before serving and heat all the way through. If shrimp is uncooked, cook another 5 minutes.
