How to Cook Grilled Tofu

by Cody Wright

A very simple yet healthy weeknight dish. Takes about 25 minutes to prepare, and goes great with steamed rice and broccoli.

Supplies

  • 1 Firm or extra firm tofu
  • Worcestershire sauce, tamarind, A1, or another sauce
  • Nonstick Cooking spray casserole dish
  • Sauté Or frying pan
  • Black pepper
  • Instructions

    Step 1

Drain tofu and wrap it in a bunch of paper towels to absorb the water. Let it sit wrapped for 5-10 minutes or so.

    Step 2

Unwrap the tofu, and slice like a loaf of bread. Slices should be about 1/2 inch thick.

    Step 3

Put the tofu in a casserole dish and cover with your sauce of choice. Add some fresh ground black pepper, if desired.

    Step 4

Let it marinate for 10 minutes or so. You can use this time to make any desired side dishes, like steamed broccoli and white or brown rice.

    Step 5

Warm up the pan over medium heat.

    Step 6

The tofu looks ready to cook!

    Step 7

Cook the tofu for a few minutes until the bottom starts to get golden brown. Flip and cook on the other side for a few minutes.

    Step 8

When cooked, you can drizzle a little bit more of the sauce over it to keep it moist. Serve with sides, and enjoy!
