How to Cook Dal

Supplies

  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 1 Cup Red lentils, rinsed
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander seeds, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric
  • ¼ Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ Teaspoons Cayenne pepper
  • 1 Knorr Homestyle Stock
  • Instructions

    Step 1

    I like to buy my spices in bulk, and keep an inexpensive coffee grinder on hand just for spices.

    Step 2

    Easy peasy.

    Step 3

    Get your spices all together.

    Step 4

    And your ginger, onion, and garlic. Garlic is just for show...I didn't use it!

    Step 5

    Now you're ready!

    Step 6

    Chop onion.

    Step 7

    Add the spices and fry for a minute. Then add the washed lentils.

    Step 8

    Add 1-2 cups of water and one Knorr Homestyle Stock pot (chicken or veg).

    Step 9

    Stir and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Step 10

    Oops..add the spices you forgot!

    Step 11

    Yummy on it's own of with sag and rice!
